Peikko delivers 71 rock foundations to Roan wind park in Central Norway

Peikko Group’s Norwegian subsidiary Peikko Norge AS, has received a significant order to deliver rock foundation technology to Roan Wind Park in Sør-Trøndelag area, Central Norway. Peikko delivers all the steel components for all 71 foundations of the wind park. The deliveries comprise FATBAR Rock Anchors, tower adapter plates, drilling templates and foundation reinforcement. Peikko is also responsible for the foundation design and structural calculations. The deliveries are scheduled to take place between April 2017 and spring time 2018. The wind park estimated to be operational in the end of 2018.

The Roan Wind Park project will be executed by Statkraft on behalf of the developer and future owner of the wind park, Fosen Vind DA, which is a joint venture of the Norwegian TrønderEnergi and Statkraft, and the investor consortium Nordic Wind Power DA formed by an European investor consortium of Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners and Swiss BKW AG. The main contractor is Johs J. Syltern AS, and their subcontractor Stjern Entreprenør AS is responsible for the foundation construction work. DNV-GL performs a third-party verification of foundation design. Vestas delivers to Roan 71 pieces of V117-3.6MW turbines with hub heights of 87 meters.

“We decided to use Peikko as our fundation supplier because their solution is effective and well thought providing savings in terms of reduced workload and time consumption. We also see that Peikko’s foundation solution simplifies future maintenance. There will be more space for a large clamping tool to access for tensioning control, or for potentially replacing a long rock anchor after turbine turbine installation” states Svein Ole Daltveit, responsible for cost calculation at Johs J. Syltern AS.

“In such a major wind park project with tight schedules we at Peikko are able to offer added value to the customer with our Rock Foundation Solution. Having one supplier taking care of the design and manufacture of the foundation components clearly simplifies the project. In this project our previous experience and execution of third party verification processes in big Norwegian wind park projects were highly valued”, states Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation.
